Briggins Menswear – In June 2006, founder Matthew Higgins was working as a sales assistant at a bank. In need of a suit, with little time for shopping, Matt was forced to get creative. Matt mused with his colleagues, the idea for a mobile suit service, where the sales staff would come to you. To no surprise his work mates encouraged him to organise the first sale. This gave Matt a business idea that would change his career.
‘Menzwear Direct’ began to visit corporate offices and homes of clients. The offices and lounge rooms would be temporarily transformed into fitting stores. In September 2006, Ex-AFL Footballer and Real Estate agent Daniel Breese became the first licensee of Menzwear Direct, when he began suppling corporate bespoke suits to the Melbourne Football Club. Daniel’s passion for the business led him to become a joint Director in March 2007 and is the foundation for his strong business partnership with Matt. The two have worked together, driven towards continually improving the business and seeking out new opportunities.
The name Briggins, combining the surnames of the two directors was rolled out across all communication points in December 2009. The company has expanded to, six full time consultants and 17 staff in total including four in-house tailors. The company launched their women’s range in 2009. The Business is currently based in Ringwood East, which opened as a showroom in 2011. Briggins have opened their supply chain internationally, which has provided access to the best fabrics and craftsmanship from Asia to Europe. In 2013 Briggins are working towards welcoming their first Franchisee to join the business.
